Twitter Blue, the revamped subscription service, has made a triumphant return after a challenging initial launch marked by fake accounts and impersonations. Now, anyone can opt for a paid subscription to gain the coveted blue checkmark verification, a privilege once reserved for notable users like celebrities, politicians, and journalists.

Under the leadership of Elon Musk, who acquired Twitter for $44 billion in October, the premium service offers users a mix of new and familiar perks. Verified accounts not only enjoy enhanced visibility for their tweets but also gain early access to upcoming features. However, some of these features are still in development.

What is Twitter Blue?

Twitter Blue is a premium service that requires a monthly fee for verification, symbolized by a blue checkmark next to your username, and access to exclusive features. Launched last year and revamped under Elon Musk's ownership, Twitter Blue offers a range of perks from the previous version, with additional exciting features in the pipeline.

These upcoming features include amplified tweets that appear more prominently in replies, mentions, and searches, a reduction in the number of ads, and the ability to share longer videos. Other anticipated features comprise the ability to undo or unsend tweets, create bookmark folders, access a shortcut for top articles in your feed, implement a reading view for longer tweet threads, and explore new themes for the app.

How much does Twitter Blue cost?

To subscribe to Twitter Blue, you can choose between a recurring monthly or annual plan on the Twitter website. Opting for a monthly plan allows flexibility, with a cost of £9.60 per month (£8 plus VAT), while the annual subscription offers the most economical option at £100.80, equivalent to £8.40 per month (or £7 plus VAT).

If you prefer to avoid platform-specific charges, signing up through the web is the cheapest route. However, for iOS and Android users, the monthly cost is £11. Twitter notes that current prices are limited-time offers, suggesting potential price adjustments in the future, a common practice among subscription services like Amazon Prime and Netflix. Stay tuned to unlock the full potential of Twitter Blue and its evolving features.
