Please tell me about Agoric and the mission and vision behind the project.
Agoric is a layer-1 chain dedicated to orchestrating the Web3 economy by enabling seamless cross-chain interactions. Our mission is to empower developers with a secure and powerful environment using Hardened JavaScript for smart contracts. With the launch of our Orchestration API, we aim to make Web3 accessible and efficient for all developers and users, driving mainstream adoption through user-friendly multi-chain applications.
Can you explain why Chain Abstraction is necessary for the mainstream adoption of Web3 and how Agoric is supporting this?
Chain abstraction is crucial because no single blockchain can optimize for the diverse tasks required in Web3. Coordinating complex actions across different chains, especially those with varying interoperability standards, is essential for widespread blockchain adoption. Agoric simplifies this complexity through our unique features like multiblock execution, on-chain timers, Interchain Accounts (ICA), and Inter-Blockchain Communication (IBC). These tools enable seamless, frictionless interactions, vastly improving the experience for both developers and end-users.
I see you recently launched Agoric’s Orchestration API. Can you explain what this is?
Agoric’s Orchestration API empowers developers to create seamless Web3 applications by streamlining complex cross-chain interactions. This API is designed for developers of all experience levels, providing the tools to build user-friendly applications that operate effortlessly across multiple blockchains. By integrating new cross-chain actions and reversing fragmented liquidity issues, our Orchestration API paves the way for a more interconnected and efficient Web3 ecosystem.
What makes Agoric Orchestration different from other multi-chain solutions?
Agoric stands out with unique features like multiblock execution and async/await capabilities, enabling smart contracts to function as long-lived, asynchronous processes that handle operations over time. These contracts can persist and respond to cross-chain actions, enhancing interoperability across decentralized networks. Additionally, our on-chain timers allow smart contracts to automatically activate and execute tasks at predefined times, making cross-chain interactions more seamless and efficient.
What does the future have in store for Agoric? Are there any major milestones or new features that you can share?
Agoric is collaborating with several prominent blockchain companies to integrate the benefits of our Orchestration API into their products. Stay tuned for exciting partnership announcements! We also launched our Early Access Program (EAP) for builders eager to leverage our Orchestration API and resources to create innovative multi-chain applications. Jeet worked previously as the Academic Partnerships and Educational Programming Manager for the Chicago Blockchain Project. He is also a Gitcoin KERNEL fellow. Jeet worked as an instructional designer at General Assembly, creating courses focused on web development and data. Jeet previously co-founded Behold.ai, an AI diagnostics company. He was also an Entrepreneur-in-Residence at the NYU Steinhardt EdTech Accelerator. Jeet holds a Bachelor’s degree in Cognitive Psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a Master’s degree in Instructional Technology and Media from Columbia University. In his free time, he likes to mentor rising entrepreneurs and find new ramen restaurants in New York City.
